Its been good.
- congrats to Jess & Phil, we all knew it was coming and it finally did. welcome to the club folks!
- went to Community Church of Glendale for new years service. Pastor Sam timed it wrong, so while we were taking our communion, count down began, so imagine, its all serious as people are taking communion and people started yelling out "Happy New Year!" I was like "OMG" and wanted to kick their face, but I kept my cool. And some fobby kids next to us started talking about ddong and bangoo during the communion, dayam rude, straight up disrespect.
- I spent the whole Christmas with Gower and her family. We went on a board game marathon and played Yoot No Rie, Yahtzee, the game of Life, scrabble and Oddles. I bought the Yahtzee deluxe edition because I love the game. Its fun, you should play.
- I saw LOTR & Last Samurai. Good Shtuff.
- Had Texas Holdem Night at my house with Gayson, Izzie, Gower, Sylvia, Prep & Tommy. Obviously, since we are losers, we played with monopoly money. nonetheless, it was fun.
- I went to Cheesecake two days in a row on Sat & Sun.
- I met up with my Messianic Jew friend and learned so much about his faith and I was humbled and inspired by his pursuit of holiness, fully understanding and attributing his salvation to God's grace and his grace alone.

Happy New Year folks!

A random Vegas Trip

Gower and I decided to go see Julio cause she was out there all alone. We decided to go on Friday night and left Sat Morning. Nice drive. As soon as we got there, we went to Bellagio Buffet... oh man... we just chilled at the Buffet for about 2 1/2 hours, just eating... 2 slices of prime rib, few plates of cocktail shrimp and ALASKAN KING CRAB LEGS, shrimp omelet, chicken, turkey, ice cream, chocolate covered strawberries just to name few... dayam it was so good. Gluttony at its highest. It was sick, but it was so worth the money.

It was first time back to Vegas since my 8th grade trip HAHA I remember Vegas being a tiny strip with MGM and few other hotels. But now, its like a real city... really developed and the hotels are amazing.

Then we just went around to look at the hotels cause i have never been there before and I gambled little. I was up around $150 at one point playing craps and black jack and after first night, I was up about $70. Then we saw Italian Job to finish off the day.

Next day, had service went to go eat at Palms buffet again. another 2 hours, but no comparison to Bellagio, but it was only 6 bucks per person, so it was all good... I gambled again, won $40, but lost about $70 all together... dayam. I spent $40 dollars in like 15 minutes... gambling is like a drug in vegas. something about vegas air... it makes you wanna gamble, it was weird. Gower was with me the whole time, so she kept me in control. anyways, overall, i won $40. Not bad for a first timer. I guess it covers my food for the trip.

Went oulet shopping on our way back... that was cool.

It was a good trip because we got to see Julios work place and her apt. Hopefully, we were able to encourage her to continue her journey in Vegas. Plus, I won $40 (though I could have won more) and we ate like there was no tomorrow. It was a very good trip. We should go again. Let me know if you wanna go.

ENGAGEMENT STORY

Ok Finally, here we go with my engagement story... I know its two weeks late. But oh well.

I wanted to spend the whole day with her, so we went for a run in the morning, but we ended up only running for like maybe 3 miles? and just walked around the rich neighborhood of West LA, the we went to this cafe called, Literati. This place is excellent for brunches and it opens until 11PM everyday. Excellent breakfast food. It was around 1PM when we got back to her place, I dropped her off and went home. Relaxed little bit... and started thinking..."wow this crazy... after few hours, I am going to be engaged!" Calling your significant other as your "girfriend" to referring to him/her as "fiance" is a crazy step up. Didn't realize it until few hours before... But I usually get those thoughts right before big events. Anyways, I got dressed and went to go pick her up.

I told her to dress nice and she sensed that something was up that day. Brought her a fresh dozen of peach roses... (I think red roses are played out) then limo guy called her house asking for me. She was like "why would anyone call you?"
Oh btw. I didn't tell her anything about this whole night... she was curious and I told her that its time to go. Limo guy was really nice... Fernando, thats his name... if you need a limo service, let me know I can probably hook you up. When she saw the limo, the first thign she says, "OMG, I am so embarrassed and this is too much!" But I can totally tell she was happy and she was thinking... "Ok I think this is it!" HAHAHA anyways, I made reservation at this restaurant called Water Grill Food was fantastic, but also left a huge dent on my wallet. Don't matter... cause its an once a life kinda thing. We were having pretty good conversation and dinner lasted for about two hours. I think she was expecting that I would get on my knee at the restaurant, but I just kinda sat there as if everything was cool. HAHAHA... and she kept on saying... "Oh, I wish our friends can join us..." But I was like "Why? don't you wanna spend this precious day all by ourselves?" I am a jerk... thats how I got her. jk... HAHAHA (BTW, I had some of our mutual friends wait for us at this other place, you will see later)

After dinner, we drove around the city because we had some time left... Andy Chon was supposed to meet us at this place called The Bungalow Club by 8:30 and we finished dinner around 7:30ish, so we had about an hour to kill. The driver did a good job driving around the city because Gower kept on looking outside to see where we are going. The whole time she was curious to know where we are going... OMG... I was like "girl, just chill out and enjoy the day." But she kept on saying "I can't you wont tell me anything!" HAHA good stuff. anyways, when we got to the Bungalow Club, I had Andy come into the front passenger seat of the car. I had him stick his camcorder between the window of the front seats and the back seats of a limo. BTW, I had Gower blindfolded. She was getting really nervous cause she had no idea what was going on. Plus, her back was to Andy's camcorder, so she had no idea that he was recording the whole thing. Anyways, once Andy was set, I began...

"Gower... you can unfold yourself" and I was on my knee... "Ok Gower, I have been memorizing verses and alot and I would like to recite it to you." HAHAHA pretty gay huh? So I recited 1 Conrinth 13 and 1 John 4:7-19 both on Love and I told her how we enjoyed our past 1 1/2 relationship and asked her to marry me! HAHAHA craziness. While I was reciting, I guess I was sweating alot and she told me she wanted to wipe my face off because I was sweating. I think I was more nervous than I thought, but I think it went well. I think Andy's camcorder right in my face made me more nervous. After she said yes... BTW, she cried as soon as I got on my knee and told me later that she kinda zoned out because I was sweating so much. HAHAHA funny. I put the ring on her finger and talked to Andy and the driver for lil bit, paid him, then entered the restaurant.

When we entered the restaurant, I heard one of the most loudest cheers I have ever heard in my life and Gower was so embarrassed! HAHAHAHA. We gave hugs and all the girls flocked to Gower wanting to see her ring. We talked about what happened to others and had few drinks with our friends.

Thanks Everyone!

Apparently, I have balla friends according to Jamietah!

jamietah29: i thought you were gonna hook me up with one ofr you balla friends you talkin about
jamietah29: the ones you said were all that since they are even better than you

I will update on my engagement thing later....

Gower and I met one of her HS friends on Sat night. We went to Heroes. That place has one of the best nachoes ever and the portions are amazing and its cheap!

Anyways, we had a marathon dinner, but good things came out of it. We began to talk about spirituality and church (she is not a believer, but her parents are) and we sensed her willingness to see what this Christianity is all about. She had lot of griefs about modern day church and how it makes "non church" people feel guilty and cliquish and so on and on... We told her not to look at those reflections of Christianity, but see it from the core, the Word of God. We are going to meet up after she finishes her finals. I praise God for this opportunity. Pray for us as we share the Gospel with her.

I suppose so much has happened lately, its been kinda hard for me to blog.

Long overdue announcement. It was random because I was driving up to LA to see Gower and they called me if I wanted to go see Kings game. My first hockey game at Staples Center. Thats right. You heard me right. Luxury box at Staples Center. Goodness gracious, so nice. Sunny, Christina and Gower and I went to the game together. Sunny got some connection from her dad's company or something like that... anyways, it was cheap.

Plus, it was a great game. Kings vs. Maple Leafs. It was 1-0 Kings up after first period. In the second period, the Kings scored 3 goals and two fights. What a great period! But in the third period, Maple leafs scored 3 goals and tied the game and one more fight. Went overtime, but the game ended in a tie.

The best part was Christina somehow missed all the fights and she was dying to see hockey players fight... hahaha. how funny. Well it was fun. Thanks Sunny!

BTW, Tommy, I was thinking about you man. Recap:

Thursday - I picked up Sylvia and went to Gower & Christina's place around 11:30PM. We decided to go to Jerry's Deli near UCLA and talked until 3PM. I haven't done one of those for awhile. It was fun. Talked abour brain and knowledge and how it affects our emotions.

Friday - Woke up around 8 and left around 10AM. Stopped by our usual spot at IN & OUT. Dang... I haven't had IN N OUT for awhile and it was so dang good. I have said this numerous times again. This is bordering blasphemy, but I am gonna say it anyways. "IN N OUT burger is the like Gospel. It stays the same and never fails to satisfy you!" I have never had a bad or poor quality burger at IN N OUT. Have you ever thought about the Gospel and realized that it was bad that Christ had die on the cross? No. There, I said it. hehehe hahahah hohoho. Back to recapping, I felt weird to be back. I didn't feel comfortable. We walked around the campus. Sylvia and Gower being nerdy geeks wanted to go to the Library and relive the moments of suffering and agony, but now with simple smile of fond memories. "Hey, lets only eat for 30 min and come back study ok?" We come back oh... about 3 hours later from talking... good times... good times. Anyways, we saw Roach there studying. so sad Friday 4PMish and he was studying. Anywho, after that we went to A+ restaurant and randomly met up with JohnSkim. Sylvia and Gower drooled all over him because he is so cute. Gower even said "I wanna date him" and John's face turned red. hahaha. he is cute. Shoot, I would date him too. Then we went to Peug's place to talk to him for little bit. It was really good to see him again. When Jamie saw Gower & Sylvia, there were going crazy. I guess they missed each other. Then we went to FICB. Seeing everyone there made me feel like I had never left. Seeing E Chen speak was a bonus and tommy & grace NAIM testimonies were great too!
Then I saw The Matrix Rev. I'll save this for later. Spent the night at Ahan & Tommy's place. Played madden until 5.

Saturday - Woke at 9ish and went to Berkeley by 10:30 and met up with my SG boys. Man it was good to see them all. Seeing Guhji aka Dan Hahn in his PJs was classic. Always looks like a Guj. Dang this SG was a special group of bunch. I love them all. BTW, we went to Rick and Anns. After that, bunch of us went to SF and got some clam chowder. Dang breadbowl clam chowder. I am gonna miss that so much. We decided to go to Palace of Fine Arts, but while we were going there, it started raining, so we just decided to go to Gordon Biersch. I got some garlic fries. Man I could still smell them in my breath. Stanking good tho. After that we came to Emerybay and just chilled. Got some zachary's and chilled at the apt. It was fun.

Sunday - went to YAG service. Its weird. so old. After that we went to Stonestown to go eat. The highlight of the day was seeing Peug choke up. He isn't too emotional, but he showed alot of emotion yesterday and once again realized how much he loves this church and how appreciative he was to be here last 8 years. It was a blessing to see him to be blessed by others. His comment about Him being a hobbit was classic. Dang I miss him already. We dropped off Sylvia at the airport and Gower and I drove back home. Got home at 1. I didn't participate. I really don't enjoying disguising myself. Also, as a Christian, I didn't want to throw my support to day of the evil spirits. I heard from someone that the tradition of dressing up on Halloween Day came from people disguised themselves so that they can avoid the evil spirits. But as Christians we don't really need to do stuff like dressing up because of the Holy Spirit no? Then I was thinking about Hallelujah Night and we have the kids dress up and stuff. I guess its fun, but I don't think its all the great for the kids. I dunno, maybe I am just being a party pooper.

Anyways, I had dinner with Gower and my parents. It was great. We wanted to go to Santa Monica Promenade, but it was raining, so we called it day.

Saturday - woke up and realized that no body is home. so went to Arby's to get some roast beef sandwich. Watched TV for a bit and went over to Gower's place. We hung out. We have so much fun together.

Sunday - went to CCG and went to Todai afterward. Its a ghetto Todai, but it was cheap 12.95 for lunch. came back to her place, fell asleep on the couch, while watching TV and came home. Watched more TV. My fantasy team did well.

Overall, I had a good weekend with Gower.

I got my business card yesterday. I hate when things like this happens. I am a heavy sleeper and I sometimes sleep talk.

Last night, I called Gower around 9ish, but she didn't pick up the phone. I was kinda bummed that I couldn't play ball or talk to Gower, so I went home early and slept early, like around 11:15ish.

I was bummed that she didn't call last night.

OK. I just talked to Gower and she told me she talked to me. I was like "no, you didn't call me last night." she said she called me around 11:45PMish. She tells me that she had a FULL ON CONVERSATION with me. I was "no way!" She even told me that I asked her "How was your day?" she told me to check the phone. so I did. Guess what?

INCOMING CALL

GOWER BAN
510-734-4733
11:49PM

I don't remember talking to her at all. I don't remember hearing the call or even picking up the call.
I am crazy. WOW. I amazed myself today. Basically, Gower talked to me while I was sleep talking. That's freaking crazy.

Random Fact about me this week.

I ran total of 12 miles this week. Mon-Thurs. I haven't used george foreman grill in awhile. Man rib eye steaks came out so stinking good + we had some shrimp cocktail. I made dinner for my mommy. she was happy, I was happy. Happy family. Ran 3.5 miles

Saturday - woke up late, watched TV all day. Watched a strange game between Sox vs. Yanks. Pedro is such a punk, but I still root for the Sox cause I just don't like the Yankees. Went to UCLA, had dinner at this place called Damon & Pythias. They had this dish called "The Carnivores" - it had sausage, chicken breast & two flank steak + garlic fries, dang good stuff.
Gower bought me dinner. haha

Sunday - went to church, went to go eat at Cheesecake with Gower, came to her place, fell asleep, woke up watched TV little bit and came home. But it does not mean that we can't understand God, but it simply means we are not FULLY able to understand who God is. He has revealed himself to us in many ways to reveal who He is, yet His natural make up is far more complex and beyond our own understanding.

now to my life- Last night, I went to go play ball at BIOLA, of course bymyself. I was terrible in the first game and we lost. So I had to sit out for little bit. Second game, I wasn't playing, but our team was still in the game. Score tied at 11-11, now you got to win by two. It was 11-11 for like ten minutes. Bodies flying everywhere and it was a good intense game. The opposing team scored one. now 12-11. I think going back and forth and them finally scoring pooped our team. Now ball in my hand down one. I squared up. I knew we were down one and I knew that a big three (well two points at BIOLA) would be huge for the team. I shot it on my defenders face. NOTHING BUT NET. shoooooooooo. It was sweet. Call me ice blood, mr. clutch, reggie miller, or wateva, man it was sweet. We went on to win the game by 14-12.

Next game, i was on a hot streak, so i made next 4 three points and ended up scoring 9 points in an another close match up, 14-12, but no dramatic shot this time. Man I love this game.

Btw, if you wanna join fantasy bball, please let me know.

Updates: On Tuesday, I went to one of my coworkers house and had legit chinese hot pot, not like the "hot pot city" kind of hot pot, but real hot pot. It was pretty good & intersting, I suppose. It was the election day, so it was pretty darn crazy.

Can't believe Arnold is our governor. It just proves the fact that Cali is one of the dumbest states in the US. 44th behind Hawaii. eck!

Last night, I went up to UCLA tried to set up LAN for gower's apt. Everyone else was working fine except her comp. Finally realized that it was her ethernet card that was malfunctioning or it could have been window XP because internet explorer would try to detect setting, but it wouldn't bite on it. I am pretty sure the problem is with her window operating system. HP sucks. Came home around 9:30 and went out for a run. ran 3 miles.

Then I woke up really really late this morning. I usually get out from my house around 7:40ish and today, I woke up at 7:40. I got here late, but it was ok. One of my bosses was out sick and other didn't come in until 9 o clock. whew.

Colts vs. Bucks. It was a great finish. No team has ever outscored their opponent 21-0 in last four minutes of a game and the Colts did it. Though the call at the end was really bs call, nonetheless good game.

I think the A's are cursed. I am serious. They cannot get out of the first round. Its really sad. I rather have my team not make the playoffs, then to have my team bounce out last four years. If I was a Braves fan, i think I would have killed myself already. So sad.

I miss my SG. It was my first company dinner outing experience. Man people drink and drink and drink some moa. We went to this five course chinese restaurant. Food was good. Since I am the new guy, they tried to make me drink alot. Juvenile isn't it? Frat party like isn't it? After taking couple shots, I resisted. I resisted. I resisted. I resisted again and again. I guess this Asian business culture thing... man. No I wasn't drunk because I only had few drinks. After I drinking, I ate alot to get rid of alcohol in my system and waited for about an hour or so. I drove home around 9 o'clock.

It was like a college scene. One of my bosses, she got knocked out and threw up all over one of my coworkers car. Couple other people threw up too. Eeew.

This morning, I came in and people said "Man you really don't give into peer pressure." I am glad thats how they felt about me.

This brings up further discussion in my head. One of my goals for working after college was to live in this world in a manner worthy of the Gospel. (Phil 1:27) Jesus commanded us to be the "salt" and "light" of the world and his call to evangelize is clear. So I was thinking "Is my drinking pleasing to the Lord?" But let's say, I didn't drink at all when they were chanting my name. (It actually happened few times. They were chanting my name to drink, but I refused after awhile...) Is that pleasing too? I didn't want to come off too stand offish and didn't want to come off too worldly either. Show them enough, show them "hey, I am willing to have a good time with you guys and get to know you guys eventually." But also wanted to show them, "hey, I am willing to have a good time, but don't want to compromise my beliefs."

Jesus never said being a Christian isn't easy. Last night was a test of my integrity. God was faithful and held me up. The fact that my coworkers recognized that I didn't give into peer pressure hopefully sets me apart. But me taking few drinks also showed them, I am willing to have a good time with them and get to know them eventually. I am just waiting for opportunities for God to soften their hearts and hopefully open their eyes to the Lord. Balance is the key and I hope I achieved some sort of balance with God and with my coworkers last night. I want to love the Lord first and love the people around me second.

Death has mysterious hope.
Death gave us new life.
Death sheds off old self and takes on new self.
Death gives us hope to meet each in heaven.

It's been awhile. About a month away from graduation. My heart screams with joy with the fact that i won't have to study for a midterm or write a paper, but my heart frowns with the fact that I will never be able to enjoy this kind of tight community. College has been very difficult at times and arduous, yet it's been also very fruitful. I have experienced so much growth as a person and as a child of God. I don't think anyone take away this experience from me. I am truly grateful of the opportunities that i have received from the Lord.

I must finish strong. He wants you to stop mourning over sin and start enjoying it. Impossible? Many who once thought so have fallen prey to its power. It usually doesn't happen all at once. In fact, the process can be slow and subtle-- almost imperceptible. But the results are always tragic.

How can you remain alert to the dangers of sin and protect yourself from compromise? First, be aware of your sin. David said, "My sin is ever before me" (Ps. 51:3). Isaiah cried out, "Woe is me, for I am ruined! Because I am a man of unclean lips, and I live among a people of unclean lips" (Isa. 6:5). Peter said to Jesus, "Depart from me, for I am a sinful man, O Lord!" (Luke 5:8). Paul called himself the chief of sinners (1 Tim. 1:15). Those men shared a common awareness of their own sinfulness and it drove them to God for forgiveness and cleansing.

Second, remember the significance of the cross. If you allow a pattern of sin to develop in your life, you've forgotten the enormous price Christ paid to free you from its bondage.

Third, realize the effect sin has on others. The psalmist said, "My eyes shed streams of water, because they do not keep Thy law" (Ps. 119:136). Jesus mourned over Jerusalem, saying, "O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, who kills the prophets and stones those who are sent to her! How often I wanted to gather your children together, the way a hen gathers her chicks under her wings, and you were unwilling" (Matt. 23:37). Your heart should ache for those enslaved to sin.

Finally, eliminate anything that hinders your sensitivity to sin, such as deliberately sinning, rejecting God's forgiveness, being proud, presuming on God's grace, or taking sin lightly. Such things will quickly dull your spiritual senses and give Satan the opportunity to lead you into greater sin.

The senior retreat was awesome. It was a great chance for all of us to share our thoughts and memories with each other. At the same time, the thought of leaving college scares me. We grow up in this generation going through 20+ years of educational institutions and now the cage has opened its gate and we are suppose to fly out of the cage like a free bird. But we have been in the cage too long, we don't want to go away from the cage. We are scared what might be out there.

However, we should not fear the unknown and the future. For God knows the future and we are in His hands and that He will never let us go where we go. We are like a dog on a leash. We are free, yet the master watches over us. We have the freedom to live our lives for the ultimate glory of His Kingdom. Teach us, humble us, for we desire to do your will as much as we can.

Enough animal imageries for today.

This is a test of the emergency broadcast system. I recently saw My Big Fat Greek Wedding. It was pretty cute, but too hyped up for me, so it wasn't as good as it could have been. Anyways, this got me thinking about the old days, when my mom used to made me watch Sleepless in Seattle, Anne of Green Gable and While You Were Sleeping. I saw Sleepless in Seattle and Anne of Green Gable like zillion times, i knew the lines from each movies. I used to think it was gross and stupid, but not so much anymore. (well ever since i have started dating...=) ) I recently saw How to Lose A Guy in 10 Days. that was movie was hilarious. funny, cute, romantic. Well for those of you who think chick flicks are stupid and useless, one day you will change your mind too. just wait.

Well, its Wednesday Night... well more like Thursday early early morning, but yea... my thesis is due tomorrow at 5 PM. I have about 15 pages at this point. Just about half way done. But I realize that I don't have to finish my thesis by tomorrow. so i am =) at the moment. I am really dreading this paper because I feel like i am repeating myself over and over again. I suppose that is part of academic writing, right? To get a point across, reiteration is important, but maybe too much is bad. eck!

I am listening to Norah Jones. Yea she is really chill. a really good music to listen to while you study. I think she has rather a very ordinary voice, yet very soothing as well. anyways, i like it. hopefully i won't kill it too soon.

Spring Break... come... come... come to me. HAPPY LATE BIRTHDAY BILLY KU. SHOUT OUT TO MY AWANA BRO!.

Senior banquet was dope. I got to wore my tux from HS. it brings me good memories... all those orchestra concerts... prom.... prom was fun! anyways, man it couldn't believe how loose my tux was... and how much weight i lost since high school. man i was a fat kid in HS... but yea i lost so much weight since HS its amazing. Most poeple go through frosh 15, but i went through frosh minus 15.... i lost about 15 pounds in college...well my freshman year to be exact... yea....so i have realized that to make a good use of my tux once again, i have to gain 15 pounds right back. Its gonna take me awhile, but yea... i will try..hehe...

anyways back to senior banquet.... it was simple and i think people especially the seniors really enjoyed their time... i can't believe we are gonna be seniors next year. My college year is coming to an end so soon. its amazing.

I compare my life to a huge novel. we flip page after page everyday. The chapter on my college year is coming to an end soon. wow. so fast. but i am really looking forward to next year.

I tutor at Longfellow Middle School. I am tutoring math... its fun, but at times its difficult because the teacher doesn't know what he is doing... he teaches 8th grade materials to predominantly 7th grade class. and he always says, "oh 7th and 8th whats the difference!! the textbook companies are just trying to make more money!"
i mean this guy is cool and all, but i think this guy pushes the kids too hard....

I have worked with so many inner city kids and these kids are no exception. It really saddens me because everytime the problem deals with division by long-hand method, most of the kids don't know how to do them. I mean we are talking about 7th and 8th graders!!!!!!! its ridiculous... they don't know how to do division by longhand...and if the division involves decimals... its game over. the kids just quit, they don't wanna even deal with decimals... it makes me question the elementary school system. the worst thing is that even the kids are struggling with fundamental things of math and the teacher is trying to teach them 8th grader algebra materials...

no wonder the class is chaotic all the time. I get so much peace when i come from my job in the morning. After tutoring, i go to my Japanese class and i feel like i am back to civilization. Brute and barbaric jungles of Longfellow middle school to orderly civilization of UC Berkeley. We consider Cal to be pretty chaotic and crazy, but i think the middle school is just as crazy if not more...of course the middle school rebellion is in a much smaller scale...

I think tutoring also helps me to think about my jr. high days... it was fun. no hw... (well we had hw, but i did them at school)...projects here and there, but it was fun... i hope these kids appreciate their time at longfellow as well.

haven't updated for awhile... nearing may, which means finals and final papers... i have three papers and two finals. which aint too bad...

I am really excited about our church moving to a new location. I don't want to write futile junk...Anyways, I actually wanted to write about this awhile ago, but totally forgot about it... so here i go...

I had a chance to share about my NAIM (North American Indian Ministries) experience with Billy, Sharon and Albert about a week ago and Tommy was also there to share about his experience as well. Every time I get an opportunity to share about my experience, I don't know where to start just because its so much. (By the way, if you are not sure what you wanna do this summer, you should consider NAIM. Its a great Christian life enriching experience!) Anyhow...

At the end of the testimony/sharing/dinner with Billy, Sharon and Albert, I remembered a biographical story that I heard from this canoemaker. I had spent the whole day helping him out and etc...His life begins with couple traumatic experiences. When he was about 8 years old, he got sexually abused by a group of older teens from the village. The worst part of the incident was that when he came home after being sexually abused, his father started beating him up because he came home late. He told me that night was one of the most miserable nights in his entire life. After being sexually abused, he returned home to cuddled into his parents arms....He needed love. He was asking for love. He was begging for love. But in fact, he received abandonment...indifference...violence...He told me that he just remembered just crying... all night...

His second turning point is even more graphic and tear-dropping... When he was about ten, he said he was sleeping with his mom one night and a dude broke into his house and came into the master bedroom and threw him off the bed and raped her mom while he was there. He told me he actually witnessed his mom getting raped at age 10. Just think about it. ......................................................................................................................

I don't know what to say... I was appalled, shocked, amazed... there aren't enough English adjectives to describe my feelings at that moment when he told me his story...his view about life was skewed and distorted at age ten. His next thirty years was completely destroy, demolished and razed by this single event. He told me that he was addicted to drugs, alcohol, sex and anything and everything else in this world that would satisfy him. Anything that would give him love give him love that he missed out when he was young. but he said he found nothing.

Fortunately, through the help of his community, he was able to get back on his feet and he makes living by being a canoemaker. (Its a crazy job!) I will tell ya if you wanna know more about it.But...

Unfortunately, he doesn't know Jesus Christ. He is pretty anti-Christianity actually... he blames the white christian government of the destruction of Native Indian villages...

Man.... Its like his life story reminds me of the story of Job. It just seems so unfair...yet I know that the Lord has a plan him. I just pray that one day... that one day... he will come to know the Lord Jesus Christ... not as a religious figure, who started a white oppressive government, but as a savior of humanity. As a friend, who came to give love, show love and pour love upon him.... I hope you guys could pray for him and people like him who are suffering all over the North America continent. So many of the Natives are suffering from alcoholism, drug addiction and spiritual degeneration....ahh... my heart aches for people who are suffering and lost... His name is Joe by the way... Let's pray.

mejeld is my self-proclaimed nickname... but my class folks gave me another one last year, "Blackfob" because I act like i am all black, yet ME FOBBING IT UP U KNOW?... interesting combo... people say, "daniel, i don't get you... you are a fob, but you talk like you are all ghetto and etc... what's wrong with you?" or they would say, "Daniel, where you from?" i say, "cerritos... but now fullerton..." then they reply, "then why are u so ghetto???"

i ponder upon this question as well "why am i so ghetto?" i attribute to my wanna be black characteristic to my fav show, "Fresh Prince Bel Air!!!!!!!!!!!" I loved that show.... Wil Smith is so dope! But if you think about it, that sitcom really doesn't show much of inner-city or ghetto areas of LA. The show takes place in an affluent neighborhood of Bel Air and the only illustration of ghettoness comes from Wil...so its ironic how i picked all my ghetto black talks from that show...

I also have to attribute to my work experience as well... I have recently realized that I interact with black people on average 4 to 5 days a week! Thats almost everyday excluding the weekend... no wonder i am so black! hahaha...plus my experience with UrbanPromise freshman year helped to me to have wanna-be-blackman-yet-fobby personality. hahaha I really don't do anything fobby, so i dunno.... i can't even consider myself a fob... i dunno...I AM CONFUSED!

Well not really... my wanna be whatever really doesn't matter. I know that I am a child of God and thats the most important fact that matters the most to me. My national identity or cultural practices or whatever does not take priority over my identity with God. Praise the Lord for sending Jesus, so that I, a worthless, wretched sinner, can be a child of God. What a glorious and privileged honor.

ONE SECOND, ONE INCH, ONE.........

Life takes interesting turns depending upon one second early or late, or one inch shorter or one inch longer.... life is full of close calls...

I was driving back from dropping some people off and was about to make a left turn...as soon as I got in the intersection, i saw two people walking across the crosswalk through my peripheral vision. I began to think...If i was one second late making that turn, i could have collided with them...one second....so close...

we are always living in such a tight world. Think about it. In all the sports games, one inch or one second determines winners and losers. Determines heroes and chokers... such a harsh world huh? yet that is the beauty of life as well....

I think thats why life is so exciting at times. Thats is why we live this life. We shout with joy when we were one second faster than our opponent, but we crumble with tear when we are one second late...That's why we watch games and thats why we live this life. Life is exciting.

Almost feels claustrophobic in a sense that it is so tight... life allows no mistakes whatsoever, but thats life and I love it!

and the message of Grace shines all the more. Life just reveals how imperfect we are and we live by the Grace of God, which comes from Jesus. The perfect Son of God, who was neither one second late nor early, but came and died and rose again in perfect flawless timing. We praise His Name for His Perfection. Amen.

Window XP is dope. its all colorful and pretty. hahaha.

.

I went to Cerritos Public Library, but this lib looks almost as good as our school lib. And then, we went to Home Cafe in Ktown to get some patbingsoo (shaved ice). There was nine of us all together and everyone was pretty full from dinner, so i only ordered two shaved ices, but the waiter said we HAVE TO order more than two... i was like what??? but anyways i was thinking well this is a korean place, so we should order more, so we ordered two more... and then we asked for an extra plate or cup or whatever, but he said he can't give it to us. I was like WHAT???? Becky was getting sick and she didn't want to get other people sick, so we asked for an extra plate and they wouldn't give it to us... man what a terrible service...

I was pretty mad about the whole situation. Korean business owners think they are the boss, so they do whatever they want with their customers, but that's not the best way to business in the states. In Korean culture, the customers are the benefit of the owner, so the owner is the boss. Thats why services at korean restaurants and other places service is so terrible... They business mentality is very present-oriented. They need to make money now, so they try to get the most money out of you at that point. But in the midst of their pursuit of making money now, they treat their customers badly and etc... they lose their business that way... so they are not really making money, but they are acutally losing money....All businessmen should be future-oriented and thats how you succeed in America... ahhh.. korean people are so frustrating at times....well enough venting about rude korean people...

here is a sick conversation that i had with bchung

mejeld (12:17:32 AM): dude thats a beautiful word...
mejeld (12:17:34 AM): homogay
mejeld (12:17:49 AM): it captures the true essence of homosexuality and gay
way2secC009 (12:17:49 AM): my new favorite
mejeld (12:17:57 AM): its beautiful
way2secC009 (12:17:59 AM): but u cant just say "homogay"
way2secC009 (12:18:08 AM): u have to say "the" homogay
mejeld (12:18:14 AM): the homogay
mejeld (12:18:15 AM): yes
mejeld (12:18:17 AM): YES!
mejeld (12:18:21 AM): THE HOMOGAY!!!!!!!!
mejeld (12:18:23 AM): hahaha
way2secC009 (12:18:44 AM): i.e. " hey fag, stop being the homogay"
mejeld (12:22:39 AM): hahaha...
mejeld (12:22:57 AM): gayfag is nice too
mejeld (12:23:09 AM): i actually prefer gayfag
mejeld (12:23:14 AM): three letters each..
way2secC009 (12:23:18 AM): man
way2secC009 (12:23:28 AM): the homogay is a much superior term

we are stupid college students... :)

I just finished my paper... still got some editing to do. writing just takes so much time... so difficult at times. yet i am writing again.. well this is not really writing, its called BLOGGING..... how twenty century and post-modern is that! Our society so encaptured by computers and internet. Just a thought, if we call this day and age, "Post-Modern Period," do the generation after us call themselves "Post Post - Modern Period"? "ultra-post modern period? Its like that movie... "I know what you did summer" and the sequel was "I still know what you did last summer" what about the next sequel? Its gonna be what like "You don't think I know, but I STILL know what you did last summer?" so glad that the third one didn't come out

Anyhow, potch is tomorrow... that should be fun and i can't wait and spring break is coming up really soon and that should be really fun as well.

alright here i go again, i tried to blog for last four times and i couldn't do it because some comp problems. The message of the Gospel does not change. It has been and it will be forever until that day, when Jesus returns, yet our belief in this solid fact wavers all the time. At times, people can't believe they are believing in some dude name Jesus who lived two thousand years ago, supposedly a son of God and etc... but at times, the Gospel penentrates within our hearts and makes us aware of his limitless and boundless Love through Jesus Christ.

Only the work of Holy Spirit can explain such our Christian phenomenon. Its amazing.

well back to studying cause i got a midterm and a paper, on tues and thurs.

i am such a computer illiterate....don't know anythign about computers.....so sad... i was trying to put up link section in my blog thing, but i don't know html, even though its so easy... i tried to figure it out, but didn't have time....

midterms and papers are coming up soon for me. I should study...

You know, kids do make me happy. I was tutoring this kid today and after he finished his homework, i taught him how to make an orgami jumping frog. He got so excited... kids appreciate little things. They take delight in the littlest things. They are honest, they are much more pure than we ragged, sin-ridden old foggies....No wonder Jesus commanded us to have a childlike heart. He is so right.

Currently, i am taking a history course on the Reformation... very interesting and learning alot about Luther, Zwingli, Calvin, some of the Catholic leaders...Two things come into my mind... Luther's heart was seriously set on God. He truly desired and sought God's heart and will for this earth. If it wasn't for him, we would still be in spiritual darkness trying to EARN God's grace, mercy and love. However, we also must consider this factor. Because he directly challenged the church and allowed people to read the Bible and come up with their own interpretation, people began to differ each other in their interpretation of the Bible. Such issues like the baptism, communion, priests marriage issue and etc... This period began what we call multi-schism of Protestant and Catholic. We have Anglicans, Presbyterians, Lutherans and etc... u name it ... and from the Catholic side, Fransican, Dominican and etc..... Luther opened the Pandora's Box and ever since that point on, CHristianity has suffered such much division and heartache over different understandings of the Scripture... His discovery was so profound, yet the terrible consequence of division was inevitable...

i will stop now....

Today was such a miserable day... drizzling all day... I rather see rain pouring than waterdrops trickling down from sky... so frustrating... anyways....

We live in this world where improvements and results are highly regarded. We tend to make our Christian walk mold into such frame, when our walk is so difficult to fit into such ideal. Yes, we are dead to sin, but sinful nature still lives within us. We continue to battle with sin. At first, we seem to have defeated sin, but it is never dead, it always comes back. Initial victory against sin is so ephemeral and the reality of sin frustrates our mind. Even though we think we have made some improvements against our sins, it is same. (I am not saying that you could never make improvements over more of public sins, but internal and hidden sins are much more difficult to overcome...) Especially, when we think we have overcame certain sins, thats when it comes back to haunt us. As soon as we let our guards down, sin sneaks in amongst all of us. Therefore, we are frustrated with sins because no improvements or results can be seen easily.

That's why we put our trust in God, which comes from heaven. No matter how much we improve or get positive results during our lifetime, its not enough. Only the blood of Christ is enough. Every morning, Jesus motivates me to get up and to live my life. Romans 3:23... oh Lord how much have we fall short of your glory...we find joy, peace and comfort in your promise.

Think......

(abrupt transition to my life now..) I got a parking ticket today. that sucked. 23 dollars out of my pocket. WHY? WHY? why do they have to sweep the street on the third tuesday from 9 - 12 AM! WHY? WHY? 23 dollars that's 23 fish o filet at McDees...23 dollars, that's 23 Jumbo Jack, or 23 two tacos, or 23 chicken sandwich...man....i am seriously pumping money into the system. haha jk wait then again its only 23 dollars... hahaha whatevers...i got away with a ticket last time, so i guess this is my punishment. God is so just... gnite folks

When I first saw this I didn't want to jump on the bandwagon cause I don't know I want to be different? But I could see how this could be useful for those internet freaks who stay up until five-in-the-morning-doing-nothing people. So Yes I am gonna start one. hahaha.

I stayed up until 4am last night trying to finish a darn two page paper. Sometimes those are the hardest ones for some odd reason. But I slept on the futon and i woke up around 7, finished at 8, went back to sleep and woke up at 9, went to class by 10, came home at 2 had lunch and went to work from 3:30 to 5:30 and I am writing my first blog at 6:11 PM on March 4, 2002.

I can't wait until the pac 10 tourney. Wait. ncaa is gonna be a crazier one! WooHOO! Its gonna be awesome. I am still surprised that Cal is still ranked after a terrible meltdown in Tucson Arizona against UA. Cal was playing so bad, i wanted to break the TV. it was one of the grossest games ever. (is there such word as "grossest" probably not....)

anyhow, if i get more cool stuff to write about i will get back to all of ya.
